Este guia dá uma panorâmica geral do curso, nomeadamente, a sua estrutura curricular com os ramos existentes, o plano das disciplinas, e uma descrição sumária dos respectivos planos de estudos.

O esforço permanente de actualização dos processos educativos, tendo em vista novos desenvolvimentos tecnológicos, a evolução do mercado de trabalho e a melhoria das condições pedagógicas obriga a ajustes regulares do funcionamento da LEM.

Web-Brochure of the Mechanical Engineering Course

The Mechanical Engineering Department of Instituto Superior Técnico has a long pedigree in engineering education and research. The Mechanical Engineering Course is accredited by the Portuguese Society of Engineers (‘Ordem dos Engenheiros’) and its general organization and programme were successfully assessed in 2002 by the External Assessment Panel designated by the Foundation of the Portuguese Universities (‘Fundação das Universidades Portuguesas’). In 1996, the Mechanical Engineering Course was also successfully assessed by an International Committee of the European Pilot Project for the Evaluation of Higher Education (Ed. Manuel Seabra Pereira, IST Press, 1996).

The Mechanical Engineering Course is a 5-year course. The first 3-years are planned to enable students to acquire the fundamentals of science and engineering. The last 2-years are designed for students to choose a speciality among three different mechanical engineering areas; Production, Energy and Automation & Robotics.
