General information about Lisbon

The Portuguese capital has been distinguished in the categories of "Best Winter Holiday Destination" (2nd place), "Most Affordable Destination" (2nd place), "Most Affordable Honeymoon Destination" (3rd place ), "Best Destination to Visit" (6th place), "Best Family Destination" (10th place) and "Best Honeymoon Destination" (10th place). The awards highlight Lisboa's quality and diverse tourism offer for romantic getaways or family holidays, and essentials such as accommodation, catering, the capital's infrastructure, mild temperatures and affordability. Two impartial factors were taken into account in order to determine the ranking of each destination. The first is based on articles published by travel experts and the second on the recommendations of U.S. News site users.

The Portuguese capital has also been voted the Best City Break Destination On a Budget at the 1st Amadeus & WTM Travel Experience Awards. This prize distinguishes Lisbon for the quality and diversity of its tourism offer for short stays at affordable prices, in essentials such as accommodation and catering.

Lisboa thus adds other important awards to the list of distinctions that the Portuguese capital has achieved on the international stage in recognition of the sustained evolution of its position as a leading tourism destination. It is worth highlighting that in September 2013, Lisbon was awarded Best European City Break Destination by the World Travel Awards, and nominated in the same category worldwide.
